     Be Clever Beats introduces a new and unique style of original as well as sample based production. Born and raised in Westchester, NY, Be Clever, aka Jonathan B Clever (pronounced Cleaver; yes, like the knife) didn't truly find his niche in music production until his later teen years prior to graduating from Mamaroneck High School in 2004. Around age 15, he initially began writing rap lyrics and short poems and occasionally reciting them alone or in the presense of friends and/or strangers. Admittedly, Be Clever never really improved, or even honestly enjoyed, in the popular improvizational skill of freestyling (basically due to his "not-so-quick" thought process. So instead he would pursue and maintain a lyrical talent by remembering verses/battle rhymes he had written. The collection of rhymes, still to this day, grows and revamps more intellectually and sensibly in regards to absorbing content and provocative expression.

    

      With all this content of rhymes and songs "in the making," there needed to be actual music behind the material. Garageband was the first beat making program where Be Clever learned the concept of editing and arrangement using the samples and sound loops/clips provided within the program. Throughout college, he still had not grasped his authentic technique and artistry in beatmaking until he studied a course in music technology in 2008. There he learned programs like Sonar, FL Studio, Logic, Reason and Protools. Following that, he eventually tapped into the endless creativity that came with beatmaking.

    

      In late 2008, he took an 8 week course in audio engineering at LilDrummaBoy Studios located in Philly on South St. Here he gained more hands on experience with Reason, Logic and Protools. The concept of Music Theory became much more apparent and aided in his production process. However, it wasn't until 2010 did he feel a substantial and undeniable affinity for audio engineering when he started his "apprenticeship" at Night Owl Studios in Chelsea, NY. For 3 years, he further established his understanding of music production, client to engineer communication ettiquette and most importantly, how to create high quality music efficiently without unneccesary hesitation.

    

     Be Clever Beats currently assists in the engineering process at Soundclash Studios in Chelsea, NY. All the while continuing to develop his craft, expanding his own sound that's uncommon and anything but ordinary.
